Sr. Associate, Risk Management

The Sr.
Associate, Risk Management serves as a subject matter expertise (SME) and serves as an authority and credible challenge to management regarding New Products and Business Activities (NPBA).
As part of the ERM NPBA team s/he will assist will facilitating the NPBA processes and provide guidance and training to the NPBA stakeholders.
Some of the duties include but are not limited to, performing quality control and maintain official committee materials and supporting documentation on activities.
S/he will report relevant activities to appropriate committees and to SHUSA ERM in accordance with the NPBA governance in place.
The NPBA governance establishes the minimum requirements for Program execution, responsibilities and governance of new products or services, significantly expanded or modified products or services and new or significant changes to business activities or processes for the first line and second lines of defense (LoD).
S/he selects and optimizes risk management processes and strategies for various initiatives, capturing and implementing recommendations from audits and other internal/compliance and external/regulatory assessment projects, and employing risk.
Delivers industry best practices, tools, guidance, and training to increase analytical capabilities and throughput.
Demonstrates strong subject matter expertise and serves as an authority and credible challenge to management regarding credit performance, potential or emerging risks, and business conformity with ERM governing strategy including but not limited to the ERM Framework, NPBA Policy and Standard, risk appetite, credit culture, and all applicable policies.
Partners with Business Lines to recommend and vet new products initiatives, origination strategies, pre-approval and pre-qualification campaigns, underwriting techniques, peer group comparisons, and process optimization.
Provides a comprehensive range of risk management expertise requiring the creation, implementation and validation of various risk segmentation strategies using complex data.
Assist NPBA management with the evaluation and direction of risks associated with new products or significantly modified products and services, and new or significant changes to business initiatives.
Provide training, guidance and challenge to the business lines (CBB, CB and CIB) on each stage of the process:
Pre-Intake, Intake, Risk Assessment, Due Diligence, etc.
Support the NPBA management with coordination of deliverables and committee administration duties, including but not limited to, maintaining committee schedules, attendance, minutes, trackers and ongoing reporting Act as a central coordinator for key upcoming initiatives by obtaining all required documentation and providing to committee members and senior leaders for review prior to committee Maintain reporting pipeline activities and provide to the Executive Sponsor, Subsidiary/Business Unit CRO, Senior Executive committees and Subsidiary Risk Committee of the Board or equivalent Provides direct support, participation, and oversight for developing, managing, and executing the NPBA Policy and Standard Selects and optimizes risk management processes and strategies for various initiatives, capturing and implementing recommendations from audits and other internal/compliance and external/regulatory assessment projects, and employing risk.
Perform completeness and quality assurance / control reviews on all NPBA materials prior to providing to Legal and Regulators and maintains supporting documentation on all NPBA activities in a regulatory ready status.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience Business, Finance, Management, or equivalent field.
9-12 years Risk Management Strong operational risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles and activity preferably in a financial services technology environment.
Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment; adept at delivering and maintaining productive working relationships across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense Advanced regulatory, retail, commercial and operational risk, process and control validation and/or assessment skills.
Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management.
Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate guidance is followed.
Liaise with and influence internal partners to align activities with SBNA Governance Framework, ERM Framework, and applicable policies and practices.
Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.
Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure.
Ability to effectively interact with senior leaders and executive management, including global counterparts, and vendors.
Coordinate efforts with First Line of Defense Risk, other Second Line of Defense functions, and other internal teams to execute ERM programs.
Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to generate and design effective risk reporting for use in management decision making.
